Christina's Cancer Crushers
What is Stater Bros. Charities & Inland Women Fighting Cancer Believe Walk?
The “Believe Walk” brings a community together with a purpose; to support cancer survivors, cancer patients and their families in the Inland Empire. Stater Bros. Charities & Inland Women Fighting Cancer started the Believe Walk with a simple vision, to create an event that honored cancer survivors and brought support to those who were still on their journey.
The “BELIEVE WALK” would bring together a community with the intent to raise critical funds that would directly impact support and services provided to cancer patients and their families in Inland Empire. It started with the vision that each dollar raised through Stater Bros. Charities & Inland Women Fighting Cancer's Believe Walk would stay in the Inland Empire and benefit local cancer centers, support programs and enhance services that support cancer patients. Through the commitment and vision of Jack Brown, Chairman & CEO of Stater Bros. Markets and Event Chairs and "Inland Women Fighting Cancer" Annie Sellas, Cathy Stockton, and Nanvy Varner all whom are cancer survivors; the first Believe Walk emerged from this unique partnership in 2008. The Believe Walk was immediately embraced by the Redlands Community and it has grown each year and has expanded from the Inland Empire community to Southern California.
The “Believe Walk” has grown from 1500 participants the first year to over 8,000 in 2010. Each year has seen an increase of participation and fundraising efforts by this community. The commitment of the community to fundraise has made it possible for Stater Bros. Charities and Inland Women Fighting Cancer to make contributions to the Loma Linda Cancer Resource Center, St. Bernardine Medical Center “Imaging Center” and Michelle’s Place. These are services that have been impacted by the generosity of the City of Redlands, our Sponsors and the community and this commitment has enhanced the support and care for so many cancer patients and their families here in the Inland Empire.
Why join/support my team?
Christina Milian was a longtime cancer fighter. For 8 years she fought against the disease until the day that the Lord called her home.
Christina remained upbeat and smiling through all of her hardships. We never saw her complain, even though we knew she suffered through much pain year over year.
She was a constant help to others who were cancer survivors. She not only carried the torch for the Relay For Life in Highland, she carried the torch for every cancer sufferer, bringing them peace and hope.
Christina may have believed that her work with fellow cancer patients was her greatest contribution, but she was an inspiration to everyone who knew her, and a constant reminder that we all should be so brave and have such a good attitude toward life, its extension, and its ending.
So we won't remember the suffering as much as we will remember her beautiful smiling face at so many events and services.
She credited her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in helping her through the cancer treatments and repeated setbacks.
You may believe soldiers are heroes on the battlefield, but there are other heroes on the battlefield of life.
Christina Milian was one of those.
We hope we can count on your support. We need caring people like you to sponsor our team’s participation in the walk.
