Grateful

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in July of 2001. My employer and co workers (mostly men) were the best support group besides my family that I could have. I am blessed with 10 years as a survivor.

My experience with breast cancer was one that I consider myself grateful for. I only missed 4 days of work throughout the chemo and radiation therapy because although I was a little sick I had the best support at work and that gave me the strength to get up every day and go to work rather than lay on my couch and feel sorry for myself. I did not want my 13 year old granddaughter to be afraid of the word cancer so I did my best to not let her see me sick or during my "cry alone" times or not able to get up and go to work. I am grateful to the Believe Walk for the years that my family and friends have walked as "Pirates of the Cureibbean" (started by my now 22 year old granddaughter and I will proudly be there again this year cheering everyone on !
