Faith keeps me fighting!!

It was 2 weeks after my hysterectomy in 10/04 that I found a small lump in my right breast, I was only 38 and there was no history of breast cancer. My son was badly hurt in a skateboard vs car accident so I waited till 2/14/05 for a biopsy which confirmed it was breast cancer. I had a lumpectomy in March and started chemo in April followed by radiation, it was a hard road. In August 09 I lost my son and only child in another horrible accident and went through a terrible time of grief. I lost a lot of weight and in July 2010 I thought the lump I now felt in my left breast was a muscle or rib but no it turned out to be breast cancer again. It also was diagnosed as triple negative breast cancer. I had a lumpectomy in August and started chemo in September followed by a double mastectomy in Feb 2011 and reconstruction in June. I just had my ovaries removed 2 weeks ago and have been off work for over a year. It has been one heck of a journey but along the way I have been Blessed with an awesome husband, great friends and wonderful co-workers who have given their time so that I can stay home and heal. I have had 12 surgeries in 6 years and hopefully I only have a couple of minor ones left. Last year my friends, family and co-workers walked the Redlands Believe walk in my name and I was so humbled. This year I will walk with them and for the many women and families fighting this disease. I have grown in my faith through this journey and I will keep praying for a cure. God Bless.
